Regular Meeting of the Land Use & Zoning Advisory Committee for the Town of Lakewood


November 11, 2002
6:00 PM

In attendance: Gigi Bartels, Lee Spletter Ted Schuurmans, Greg Weyers, Scott VanLaanen, Raoul Schottky, and Guests Robert Macintosh, Don D. Bartels, and Don Hanson.

Meeting was called to order by Lee Spletter at 6:00 pm.

Motion by Ted Schuurmans, second by Greg Weyers to approve the agenda as presented, motion was carried.

Motion by Raoul Schottky, second by Gigi Bartels to accept the of October meeting as presented, motion was carried.

New Business

� Robert Macintosh was introduced by Lee Spletter. Robert Macintosh the chairperson of the Town of Riverview Zoning Committed spoke on the upcoming highway 32 construction project and asked our committee if we could support their committee with a few minor changes to the plan that they would like to see changed. They would like to have a No Passing Zone from Nicolet Plastic to Lakewood and the Speed Limit reduced to 45 MPH in this area. There have been many problems in the area of Hwy 32 and Maiden Lake Road. After discussion, a motion was made by Ted Schuurmans, second by Greg Weyers to recommend that the Town of Lakewood support the Town of Riverview in their attempt to have this area from Nicolet Plastics to the Town of Lakewood a No Passing Zone and a 45 MPH Speed Limit. The Town of Lakewood should write a letter to DOT stating this. Motion was carried.


� Don D Bartels presented a map of a rezone proposal of property in the area of the McCauslin Brook Golf Course. 34.5 Acres of land that is now zoned as Forestry, to be rezoned to R1. After discussion a motion was made by Ted Schuurmans, second by Scott VanLaanen to recommend to the Town to approve the rezone as presented. Motion carried with Gigi Bartels abstaining.


� Don Hansen presented a Certified Survey Map of the Ray Nelson property that Don Hansen and Carl Vandenelzen purchased and wish to divide into 2 Lots. After discussion of the map and their plans for the property, a motion by Gigi Bartels, second by Ted Schuurmans to recommend to the Town to accept the Certified Survey Map as presented. Motion was carried.

� A Rezone map of the Bake property on Thompson Lake and McCaslin Brook was presented. This property is Zoned Forestry and would like to have it rezoned to R1. No person was available to explain or answer questions regarding this property. This property is in an Environmentally Sensitive Area in both the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan and the Lake Protective Plan. After discussion Raoul Schottky make a motion to recommend that the Town approve the Rezone, but note that it is in an Environmentally Sensitive Area in both the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan and the Lake Protection Plan, second by Ted Schuurmans. Motion was carried with Gigi abstaining.

� Lee Spletter informed us that he attended a meeting with American Transmission Company regarding new Power Lines in Wisconsin. Most of this is for the Fox River Valley and lower Wisconsin, and would not affect us.

� Public Input Meeting on the Hwy 32 project that will be held at the Lakewood Town Hall on November 12th was discussed, but no action was taken or needed,

Old Business

� Ted Schuurmans explained a little more on the Retracement Certified Survey Map that we had questioned last month. No action needed.

Motion by Scott VanLaanen to adjourn, second by Ted Schuurmans, motion carried. Adjourned at 7:02 PM
